These proposals form part of the strong recommendations made by the transition committee raised by Buhari to work out a blueprint for his administration.
Asked if the proposal for total subsidy removal had been discussed with labour, the source said that members of organized labour in the country were consulted by the committee and they made presentations on what should be done over the matter.

The source said:
“ Labour is part of the decision; they have accepted the proposal of fuel subsidy removal. “A committee is likely to be set up by the federal government to work out the modalities of what is to be done in that respect. “But the truth is that total removal of fuel subsidy has been recommended with adequate provisions for palliatives on free education and social welfare for the unemployed”, a member of the transition committee said.

ATM in Lagos dispensing fake currency?

A LIB reader claims an ATM in Lagos dispensed fake money to him. Because it's an accusation and nothing has been proven, I removed the names of all the banks he mentioned. Read his story below
I made a withdrawal of N48,000.00 at *** ATM Ajose Adeogun branch (Victoria Island, Lagos) this afternoon. Immediately, i went to *** bank(ajose branch too) just after where i did my withdrawal to pay in N12,000.00. From there i went to **** bank (ajose branch too) to make another deposit. On getting there i filled my teller and waited on the queue for me to be called. i got a call from the teller and went straight to him, immediately i gave him the money as i wanted to deposit N5,000.00 he told me that the first N1,000.00 was fake and that where did i get it from, i told him that i just withdrew the money from *** ATM Machine (ajose branch) and he now told me to go back to the branch of the bank where I made the withdrawal to make a formal complaint and this i did (at this point he had perforated the N1,000 note he called fake)

Getting to the **** branch, i met a staff of *** who directed me to another colleague. I explained to the guy everything that happened and he was kind of not buying the story that the fake N1,000 was not from their ATM Machine, but he said that it was very possible for things of such to occur. i then asked him to help me scan the remaining cash i withdrew from their ATM Machine so i would know if their was still more of the fake currency with me which he did not want to, so i told him i wanted to see their manager and he did directed to  the manager. I saw her and explained every thing to her and all she could say was they don't dispense fake currency and that she was sorry about everything.

Eventually they scanned the balance of my cash.

Linda, the bottom line is that there is a criminal in that branch that must have done this and we don't even know if there are still more of those fake cash inside their ATM machine. This is how so many people die for no just cause because imagine if i had gone to a place like Oshodi with such money to buy stuffs  unknowingly and then One old woman will just screen Ole and you know happens next.

Only God know how many victims are out there but keep quiet because they personally feel its not worth the noise and all.

Everybody should be careful and beware!!!!

Buhari to move into Aso Villa, announce some appointments next week

President Muhammadu Buhari is set to move into the Presidential Villa next week to continue his governance and may also name the first set of top government officials to start off the administration, a competent Presidency source confirmed.

Since being declared winner of the 2015 Presidential election, Buhari has been operating from the Defence House in Maitama and has been conducting official business of government from there, having taken over the mantle of leadership on May 29, 2015 from former President Goodluck Jonathan.
It was leant that the President was ready to move from Defence House to the Villa possibly early next week following completion of renovation of the President’s residence.
“It is true that the construction company has completed the President’s wing and he is set to move in any moment from now. As at today, it is only the Vice President’s residence that is yet to be fully completed.
“We expect that the two men will move into the villa by next week since the work in the Vice President’s apartment is not a serious one,” an official in the Presidency explained.
The source explained that Buhari was set to begin naming some key officials of his government as soon as he moves into the Villa to prepare the grounds for the take off of serious work for Nigerians who have been expecting action from the administration.

As a prelude to setting up his administration, Buhari has reportedly handed over the 800-page Transition Committee Report to a trusted team of his associates, headed by former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola; former Ekiti governor,  Kayode Fayemi  and others to reduce into a sizable and workable document.

Fashola is being tipped to emerge as Chief of Staff to the President because of his pedigree as a former Chief of Staff, governor and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

An impeccable source said that it was Buhari who instructed that after all others had completed working on transition report, they should hand over the voluminous document to Fashola to reduce into an implementable format for him to read and take necessary actions.

The source said:
“Hopefully, from next week, some appointments would be announced. Buhari is a fast reader and he will be able to take immediate actions based on the transition report.”

A member of the Buhari Transition Committee, who pleaded anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the matter, confirmed that the final report presented to the president last week was a comprehensive document meant to guide him in taking decisions as to the shape and nature of his administration to bring about the needed change in the country.

The member said that what they presented to the President was more of a blueprint and how best to go about it in order to bring the country out of the woods. The member said: “The final report is very rich and we believe it will help Mr. President in putting a solid structure of his government and give him policy direction as well.”

Buhari reportedly orders the disposal of 9 Presidential aircrafts to cut cost

There are reports that President Buhari has directed that nine of the VIP transport aircraft under the presidential fleet should be sold as part of the federal government’s cost measures.

Industry sources said that the presidential fleet, which are registered as Nigerian Air Force aircraft, is one of the largest in Africa and the third largest in Nigeria after Arik Air and Aerocontractors.

According to a report by ThisDay, an aviation source, who is aware of the directive to sell the aircraft, said the presidency has a number of serviceable and unserviceable aircraft that need to be disposed of in order to reduce the amount spent by the federal government for aircraft maintenance annually.
“Nine, which still have market value, are to be sold immediately to reduce maintenance costs,” he said.
For years, the federal government has spent over N12 billion annually for the maintenance of the presidential fleet.

Although information on the exact size of the fleet is treated as classified information, the fleet, according to aviation sources, is believed to comprise about 16 aircraft, chief of which is the Boeing 738 BBJ, NAF 001 or Eagle One, used by the president for his travels.
With its luxury configuration comprising a master bedroom, washrooms and showers, a conference and dinning area, and a living area, the plane seats 25 to 50 passengers and would cost at least $100 million to replace today.
Eagle One can spend 12 hours in the air, covering 11,489 kilomtres or 6,200 nautical miles.
In addition to the Boeing 733 reserved for the president, the fleet boasts two Gulfstream 550 jets. The Gulfstream 550 can seat eight to 18 passengers, depending on the configuration, and has a cruiser range of 12,501 kilometres or 6,750 nautical miles. A new luxury Gulfstream 550 would cost an estimated $53.5 million.

According to Wikipedia, other planes in the Nigerian Air Force VIP transport fleet include two Dassault Falcon 7X jets, one Hawker Siddeley 125-800 and one Cessna 550 Citation II.

Information from a Nigerian web portal and Nigerian Air Force sources further revealed that the fleet also boasts two Dassault Falcon 900 jets, a Gulfstream IVSP, a Gulfstream V, a Dornier Do 228, which can carry 19 passengers, one Beechcraft King Air B200, and three AugustaWestland AW139 helicopters.

Sources said each of the two Dassault Falcon 7X jets were purchased for $51.1 million in 2010 while the Gulfstream 550 cost $53.3 million.
Aviation experts also put the average price of the Falcon 900 at $35 million; Gulfstream IVSP at $40 million; Gulfstream V at $45 million; Cessna Citation at $7 million; and the Hawker Siddeley at $15 million.

It was also discovered that though all the aircraft are under the presidential fleet, about eight of the planes are reserved strictly for the president.

These are the Boeing 737, the two Gulfstream 550 jets, the Gulfstream V jet, two Falcon 7X planes, the Hawker Siddeley aircraft and one AugustaWestland chopper.

Others are reserved for executive airlift. Aircraft used for this function include the two Falcon 900 planes, the Dornier, the Cessna Citation, the Beechracft King Air, and two AugustaWestland choppers.

Aircraft reserved for executive airlift are used by the Vice-President, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and could be used to convey African heads of states visiting or departing Nigeria.

Housewife sentenced to death by hanging in Makurdi for the murder of her 1yr old step son

A Makurdi High Court Judge, Justice Jennifer Ijohor, on Thursday June 11th, sentenced a housewife, Mrs Ternenge Tersoo, to death by hanging for the murder of her 1year-old step son, Pineter Tersoo.

Mrs Tersoo of Mbayegh-Gaav in Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue was found guilty of culpable homicide punishable with death under Section 221 of the Penal Code.

The convict’s husband, Mr Iorchir Tersoo, reported the matter to the police on May 28, 2012 that his first wife had killed his son.

Tersoo said he had been married to the convict for seven years without a child, which made him to marry a second wife, Torkwase Tersoo, who gave birth to the deceased within one year.
The complainant said that his first wife had complained bitterly that the little boy and his mother had taken over the affairs of the house and that the husband gave more attention to the second wife.

According to him, the convict collected the child from his nanny and strangled him to death.
During trial, however, the convict pleaded not guilty to the charge against her and testified in her own defence without calling any witness.

However, the prosecution called two witnesses, including the Investigating Police Officer (IPO), Cpl Solomon Mnyim, who tendered a medical report of the autopsy carried out on the deceased at the General Hospital, Vandeikya.

Delivering judgment, Ijohor said that prosecution had proved its case beyond any reasonable doubt to warrant the conviction of the accused.

The judge said the autopsy report showed that the boy was actually strangulated to death.
She condemned the situation where a woman would take the life of another person’s child and advised that a woman married into polygamous home and had no child should pray to God for the gift rather than harbouring evil.

PDP Vs APC: Buhari's Administration Lacks Direction

The Peoples Democratic Party came down on the All Progressives Congress over its performance since the power handover.
In a June 6 statement by Chief Olisa Metuh, the PDP lamented that the new administration had not yet showed any seriousness and direction, Vanguard reports. Instead, the APC leadership focused on selfish interests, which situation is dangerous for the Nigerian democracy.
“The concern of well-meaning Nigerians is that this may be a pointer to the fact that the APC lacks clear-cut directions on how to govern a nation as complex as Nigeria.”
Metuh also insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari was already nervous over the promises made during the election campaign.
“The negative effect of the glaring political commotion in the APC is compounding President Buhari’s self confessed nervousness and puzzlement, his flip-flops and worrisome reneging on campaign promises for which Nigerians will continue to hold him accountable.
“Instead of fighting for positions, which betrays their lust, APC leaders should be more concerned with how to help President Buhari, who is still struggling with his ministerial list and basic appointments more than a week after his inauguration.
“They should be more concerned with how to end insurgency by the end of July as promised by President Buhari in his April 2, 2015 CNN interview.
“They should be concerned about how to pay N5,000 each to 25 million poor Nigerians beginning from the end of June; how to bring the naira to the same value with the dollar; provide allowances to the discharged, but unemployed Youth Corps members for 12 months; provide free education and meals for school children, among others, as they promised during the campaigns.
“We invite the APC to note the concern of Nigerians that the pictures emanating from their camp are not reassuring in this direction.”
The PDP also urged Buhari to apologize to Goodluck Jonathan for seeking regional cooperation to end Boko Haram insurgency, when he once criticized GEJ over a similar move.
In conclusion, Metuh warned the ruling party against preventing Nigerians from speaking their minds, as welcomed by the Constitution.
“The APC must understand that the hallmark of democracy is freedom of expression and opinion, particularly on governance issues; inalienable rights of all citizens guaranteed by the constitution and which must not be denied them under any guise, whatsoever.
“Though we had decided to give President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling party sometime to settle down, indicators show that the APC is not getting its bearing right and the PDP as a party that has nurtured and sustained democracy in the last 16 years, we cannot fold our hands and watch our nation drift towards dangerous undemocratic paths.”
It should be noted that the week following Buhari’s inauguration was marked by a series of attacks. Amid race for power in the National Assembly, the country was hit several times by suspected Boko Haram insurgents. Some criticized the new government over its inability to fulfill the campaign promises.
Meanwhile President Buhari yesterday arrived to Germany for the G7 Summit to discuss the relevant problems. The trip comes after the successful meeting with the leaders of Niger and Chad.

Impeachment Saga: Why I Absolved Buhari - Gov Fayose
Gov. Ayodele Fayose
Speaking during the inauguration of the Fifth House of Assembly on Friday, June 5, the governor said he absolved the president of blame based on findings he made, The Nation reports.
Fayose, exhorting the new lawmakers legislators to pursue peace in the course of carrying out their duties warned them to avoid “mindless power struggle” with the executive.
The governor criticised the immediate past Assembly which was dominated by the APC lawmakers for engaging in what he described as “crude and barbaric ” power struggle.
He said: “the President had said that he had no enemy to fight. He said he has put the past behind him and why are the APC lawmakers still bent on impeaching me? What is there own in this matter?
He promised to offset the outstanding entitlements of the 19 APC lawmakers and their seven PDP counterparts in the spirit of oneness and unity.

Governor Fayose was for months embroiled in a running battle with the 19 APC lawmakers in the Ekiti state House of Assembly. The law makers had vowed to impeach him over allegations of gross misconduct.
The governor appears to have survived the impeachment crisis following the expiration of the tenure of the lawmakers.  All the newly sworn 26 members of the Ekiti Assembly were elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the April 11 House of Assembly elections.
