Chief Uwazuruike further alleged that the incoming administration was planning to arrest him in order to keep him in prison till after the swearing in on May 29.
Daily Sun reports that the MASSOB leader made the disclosure to newsmen in a statement issued by Mazi Chris Mocha, the group’s deputy director for information, shortly after the Anambra North Zonal meeting at Awkuzu in Oyi local government area of the state on May 4.
According to Uwazuruike, the new administration in Imo state had employed security agents, who would disguise themselves as journalists to do the job.
“I don’t know why the Federal Government is always jittery about MASSOB. The planned arrest is intended to keep me in prison custody and possibly clamp down on MASSOB before or after the May 29 handover,”  he said.
The MASSOB leader confessed that he was not afraid of the possible arrest, as it would make him stronger, more focused and popular in the struggle for freedom. He added “it goes to show that this non-violence method is giving the Federal Government some sleepless nights.”
However, Uwazuruike recalled that on October 25, 2005, Chief Achike Udenwa, the former governor of Imo state, allegedly acting on instruction from the former president Olusegun Obasanjo, used operatives of the Department of State Security who were disguised as corps members to arrest him, adding that this recent plot is being planned to use security agents disguised as journalists to arrest him.
Two weeks ago MASSOB again called on the United Nations to pass a resolution recognising the south- east of Nigeria as a state of Biafra.
According to the organization, recognising Biafra would be in conformity with the recognition given the territory in the late 1960s by some countries during her struggle for self-determination.
