In Group A, Delta Queens will be at home to receive well oiled, Confluence Queens at the Oleh Township Stadium.
The Lokoja-based side who have boasted not to drop point in the match will surely give the coach Dan Evumena wards a good run for their money but it will be an uphill task for them to subdue the Delta state landladies in Oleh.
The star match of the week will be in Osogbo where Osun Babes will host Ibom Angels. The match is certain to attract attentions as both teams are well fortified to give the fans a lot to cheer.
Giant killers, FC Robo will try the Bayelsa Queens for size in Lagos. FC Robo side will be having their first baptism of fire in the Nigeria Women Premier League. Considering their youthfulness and zeal it will be very difficult for Bayelsa to come out of the match with a point.
In Yola, Adamawa Queens will welcome another newcomers in the elite division, Martins White Doves of Benin. The Edo team topped Group B of the professional cadre last season. They are expected to put in a better fight against the Adamawa side.
In Group B, only two matches will be played this weekend as defending champions, Rivers Angles of Port Harcourt and Sunshine Queens of Akure will have to wait for the approval of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) executive committee to know their respective opponents.
However, Edo Queens will be at home to welcome Nasarawa Amazons while FC Taraba will play host to former champions, Pelican Stars.
NWPL board chairperson, Dilichukwu Onyedinma said the body has taken adequate measure to give Nigerians the best league season.
“At the end of every season we try to review and make amend of the ills noted in the previous season.
“We’ve effected little amendment on things we didn’t do perfectly well during the maiden edition of the Premier League.
“Right now we’ve taken measure to ensure matches are played on good and television friendly pitches.
“We’ve equally taken it upon ourselves to make our league media friendly, we’ve match assessors to put the referees on constant watch.
“We’re positive the season will run flawless as well as better improved,” said Onyedinma to supersport.com.
