An online news platform 'the cable' has tendered an apology to Prof, Wole Soyinka for an article she published on may 5, quoting Soyinka as saying that Igbos vote with their stomachs and are incurably money minded.
The Harvard University Hutchins Centre for
African and American Research in the United States is set to post the
video of a lecture delivered by Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka following allegations that he made anti-Igbo comments while delivering it.
Online
news platform, The Cable, in an article published on May, 5, 2015,
quoted Soyinka as saying that Igbos vote with their stomachs and are
incurably money-minded.
The eminent playwright has since denied the reports saying that anyone who believes them is a moron.
The
Hutchins Centre, in an email to Punch, stated that it would post the
video of Soyinka’s lecture, titled “Predicting Nigeria, Electoral
Ironies” within a week.
“We expect the recent
Wole Soyinka talk to be posted via video on the Hutchins Centre website
within a week. However, transcripts of the talk will not be provided.
Thank you for contacting the Hutchins Centre,” the email read.
Meanwhile, the management of The Cable has tendered an apology to Soyinka over the article.
