On April 28th, Green Eagles lost a former stationary stores and a player, Peter Anieke. He suffered from acute rheumatism and arthritis. he was 68 years old.
Peter, known for his great defence skills and goal scoring, started his football career in 1967, playing for local football leagues before moving into the National team in ’70s where he played for the National team.
He was nicknamed ‘Eusebio of Africa’ for the countless number of goals he scored while he played professional football.
Anieke played alongside other Eagles greats like; Mesembe Otu, Sokari Dokubo, Godwin Anosike, Teslim Balogun, Titus Okere, Etim Henshaw and Edet Ben
Anieke was born on March 2, 1947. He is survived by a wife and 6 children. May his soul rest in peace Amen.
