The out-going governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi has criticised the outcome of the elections in the state. After casting his vote at his polling unit, Ward 8, Unit 14, Ubima in Ikwerre local government area of Rivers state, Gov Amaechi had described the April 11 governorship and House of Assembly elections election as a sham.
Also reacting to a call by the Minister of State II for Foreign Affairs, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, that he and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state should concede defeat and congratulate the winner of the election, Nyesom Wike in the interest of the state, Amaechi had described the election as daylight robbery and a disgrace to democracy.
INEC has also fixed April 18 for the run-off governorship elections in Imo and Abia where last Saturday’s elections were declared inconclusive
