Chief Olu Adebanjo died aged 83 in his residence in Idowa, Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State on Thursday at about 1.35pm.
The family of the former minister was visited by Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state who described Adebanjo as a selfless leader and a pillar, which the progressive party was built on, News 24 reports.
The governor rained more praises on Adebanjo saying he left a great legacy of true progress behind by contributing to the growth of the state and the country.
Amosun was grateful that Adebanjo was able to see his dream of an APC man be elected president of the nation before his death.
Amosun also consoled the late Adebanjo’s widow, Joanna, saying the state would ensure Adebanjo got a befitting burial worthy of a statesman.
A family member, Honourable Akintunde Amu, gave more insight to the death of Adebanjo. The honorable claimed Adebanjo had been ill since February.
Honorable Amu also thanked the governor and his entourage for a swift response to the news of Adebanjo’s demise. The Adebanjo family have yet to fix a date for the burial.
Adebanjo was a leader of the All Progressive Party in Ogun State and former Minister of information of Information during the second republic regime of former president Shehu Shagari.
