A newborn baby, who lived less than two hours, became youngest organ donor ever.

Minutes after Teddy Houlston died, his organs were transplanted in a pioneering surgery.
“He lived and died a hero” his father Mike Houlston told press. “It’s impossible to explain how proud we are of him”.

Teddy had a rare lethal disease of anencephaly which prevents the brain from developing. Babies with this disease are stillborn or live just hours after birth. Teddy’s mother Jess Evans was carrying twins when she was told that one of babies is fatally ill.

Though doctors proposed her to abort the ill fetus, she insisted on continuing the pregnancy and later decided to donate baby’s organs.
“Organ donation was something I’ve always felt quite strongly about ever since I was a child“, she told press.

Teddy’s kidneys were unaffected by the disease and will be able to grow inside another adult patient’s living body.
