At
least 11 petitions, arising from the just concluded election have been received
by Akwa Ibom Election Petitions Tribunal.
Checks by Concord Nigeria have revealed that 10 out
of the 11 petitions are from the All Progressives Congress (APC) while one is
from the Accord Party.
As at the time of filling this report, no petition
was received from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Seven petitions from house of representative
candidates and others from senatorial candidates which made up the 10 petitions
from APC.
Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, APC candidate,
Inibehe Okori challenges the declaration of the PDP candidate, Godswill Akpabio
as winner of the senatorial seat.
Uyo Senatorial District, APC candidate, Emmanuel Obot
challenges the declaration of the PDP candidate, Bassey Albert as winner of the
elections.
Bassey Etienam of APC challenges the declaration of Nelson
Effiong of PDP as winner of the Eket Senatorial District.
APC candidate Okori challenges the eligibility of
Akpabio contesting on the grounds that he (Akpabio) wasn’t properly nominated
by the PDP.
