Some members of PDP have abandoned the party to the all progressives congress, APC due to the lost in the recently concluded elections.
The
defectors are lawmakers representing the president’s constituency at
the National and State Assembly. Their names were given as Senator
Clever Marcus Ikisikpo, ( Bayelsa East senatorial district), Mr. Nadu
Karibo ( Ogbia federal constituency), and member Bayelsa State House of
Assembly, Mr Azibola Omekwe (Ogbia constituency).
According
to Leadership, the lawmakers who officially announced their defection
on Wednesday, May 13, at the APC national secretariat justified their
actions by saying: “their defection was long overdue.”
Senator Ikisikpo, who led the delegation said they would have defected earlier but were hindered by some constraining factors.
He expressed believe that the Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, would join them in the APC very soon.
Meanwhile,
the former governor of Bayelsa state, Chief Timipre Sylvia, has
expressed confidence that the APC will definitely win the governorship
election in the state in the next election. He said the time had come
for the people of Bayelsa to embrace change.
President
Jonathan at a thanksgiving service last week, revealed that some of his
friends and associates had abandoned him due to the defeat he suffered
in the March 28 presidential poll.
He, however, noted that his loss was the supreme price he needed to pay to keep Nigeria’s unity intact.
