The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu has said that his resignation will lead to the end of the party.
Some
chieftains of the party have been calling for Mu’azu’s resignation
following the PDP’s defeat in the recently concluded general elections.
Mu’azu, speaking through his Special Adviser on Media, Tony Amadi, made the statement on Sunday, May 10, 2015, during an interview with Punch.
“Why
are these people trying to create problems for themselves and the
outgoing President? The President has said let us sheathe our swords;
that is why we have not said anything for the past one week and we
obeyed the President. He is our leader; why are they doing this?” Mu’azu asked.
“I
thought that we have finished elections, we have got a President-elect
and we are going to hand over to the President-elect. Why are they
taking us back? Please, let them cool down, Mu’azu is not the problem,” he added.
Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose and ex-minister, Femi Fani-Kayode are among those calling for Mu’azu’s resignation.
Fayose also accused the PDP Chairman of working for the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the elections.
