Di Maria would be a PSG player if it wasn't for FFP - Al-Khelaifi

The French champions' president admits the Argentine could have moved to Parc des Princes and says the club have met with Juventus star Paul Pogba

Paris Saint-Germain owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi claims the club would have signed Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid in the summer had they not been restricted by Uefa's Financal Fair Play rules.

The Argentina international left the European champions to join Manchester United in a €75 million deal in August despite rumoured interest from the Ligue 1 champions.

Al-Khelaifi admits that PSG's spend was limited by FFP and says that the 27-year-old could have ended up moving to the French capital instead of Manchester had they been able to utilise all of their spending power.

"Financial Fair Play is not only a problem for PSG, but for all clubs, whether German, Spanish or Italian," he told Le Parisien.

"This is a big problem for Uefa now. Uefa must change the rules. I trust them. Last year, we were handicapped and we were clearly slowDi Maria would be a PSG player if it wasn't for FFP - Al-Khelaified (in the transfer market). Without these sanctions, we can imagine that Di Maria would be at PSG this season."

Al-Khelaifi also admits that PSG have met with Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, but he accepts that the France international is in high demand.

"We met him because he is a great talent. He's French, even Parisian," he added. "But all the big clubs want him."
