Free State will look at retaining the three points and ease their relegation worries when they welcome Bidvest Wits for an Absa Premiership match on Wednesday night at Goble Park Stadium.
Kick-off is at 7:30pm.
The Free State side are fresh from two consecutive wins over Polokwane City and Ajax Cape Town, and the match against Gavin Hunt’s men is set to be an opportunity to bag nine points in three outings.
Kinnah Phiri’s men are placed at position 14 with 28 points from 26 matches and a win could push them higher. However, facing the Students will not be an easy task as they’re also pushing for a top finish.
The Braamfontein-based outfit is placed at position four tied with Orlando Pirates, but separated on goal difference. Although they beat the Buccaneers by 2-0 at home, they drew against Chippa United in their previous tie.
Speaking about the match, Ea Lla Koto defender Daniel Cardoso said they’ve done well in their past two matches and they aim to continue.
“Well, look we have done well in the past two games and we want to continue that run and make it three out of three,” said Cardoso.
“That will also see us climb up the table and away from that relegation battle - it's not going to be easy as Wits are also looking too finish second in the league chasing Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
“We are going out there to fight like we have the past two games, I think if we can score and take our opportunities we looking at a positive result.”
According to the Stu
dents midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi, taking each game as it comes is the way to go.
“At this stage we just need to take it one game at a time,” said Vilakazi.
“It’s important that we keep pushing together as a team.
“The games are coming thick and fast at this stage which is good for us.
“So the momentum is good for the team as well going forward.”
