Reports emanating from Enugu indicate that, the state police command, through its Nsukka command, has nabbed a fake army officer who has been masterminding series of unlawful acts in the state.
According to reports gathered, the Enugu police command arrested the fake army officer and members of his gang who has allegedly been terrorising, intimidating and raping young girls at Amaja community in Igbo-Eze North local government area, Enugu State for a long time.
It was reported by Leadership that detectives from the Nsukka Command arrested the fake army officer, identified simply as Felix James, while he was walking freely in the community pretending to be a genuine military officer.
He was not aware that detectives from the command were trailing him.
Reacting after been nabbed, the fake army officer, fully dressed on army camouflage, said he tried several times to be enlisted in the Nigerian army without success, adding that he procured the uniform and camouflages through the help of one of his friends.
“My friend Reggan Igbonekwu whose father was a retired soldier gave me the army uniform to wear to convince my parents that I had successfully joined the Nigerian Army. I came back in November 2014 with the army uniform and since then till now I have never worn the uniform again. I paid Reggan a total sum of N80, 000 for the army uniforms he supplied to me,’’he stressed.
“Everybody in mycommunity knew that I went for the army recruitment but they don’t know that I was not successful. I am a married man with one issue and my wife Ujah Rita sees me as an army officer,” he said.
The suspect, Felix James was a cosmetics seller at Kogi State before he decided to join the army and failed.
