The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of bullying and threatening its members so as to destabilise its party structure.
According to Punch, Chief Olisa Metuh, National Publicity Secretary of the (PDP) made these accusations yesterday, April 19, noting that the grand plan of the APC was to impose a one-party system on Nigeria by approaching senior members of the PDP with phantom promises.
Chief Metuh also alleged that APC was plunging the country into a one-party state by engaging in violence and intimidation of PDP members.
He said: “We are aware that as part of the plot, APC in the past few weeks, has been luring and encouraging some of our members to issue derogatory statements against the leadership of our party.
“While some of their accomplices have openly decamped, we know that others have been instructed to stay back and cause crisis within our ranks.
“Even in states where they lost, APC has engaged in violence and instigating crisis all in the bid to impose a one-party system in the country.
“Alhaji Mohammed, in his usual ill-mannered and condemnable approach, left the issues and dwelt on insults, disdainful comments and personal attacks.
”Is Alhaji Mohammed feigning ignorance of the various recent open and nocturnal meetings of his party with highly-respected members of PDP?
“Furthermore, PDP National Publicity Secretary does not need Alhaji Mohammed’s so-called six weeks crash course in party publicity.
“He does not need a course on how to insult and denigrate the office and person of the President of our country. PDP will do no such thing, but only focus on constructive criticism.”
After it’s loss in the March 28 Presidential election, the PDP has seen its role change from a ruling party to an opposition party. The party has also been hit with a wave of mass defections and internal crisis. In response to the mass defections witnessed by the party in recent times, the national publicity secretary of the party has referred to it’s defecting members as gold diggers.
